The Vision of Laos
Since 2019, the Laos government has shown keen interest in blockchain technology, closely monitoring its progress in high-level meetings. They aim to position blockchain technology as a transformative option for Laos, expecting it to drive significant business growth.
Laos' Opportunities
As the 2024 ASEAN rotating chairmanship, Laos is committed to expediting its digital transformation and driving the cohesive digital economy transition across the ASEAN region by issuing ASEAN USD (USDA), the first-ever USD-pegged stablecoin.
Implementing Laos' Vision
In June 2023, Laos established the Laos Digital Technology Group (LADT), the issuance platform of USDA, with the support of the Central Bank. It's a collaborative initiative involving the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Lao NewPay United Technology Co., Ltd.
